Bristol County Recent Booking Records

You have a right to ask for booking records from Bristol County under state law. Massachusetts public records law gives everyone access to government records unless a specific exemption applies. The first step is to send a written request to the Bristol County Sheriff's Office at 400 Faunce Corner Road, North Dartmouth, MA 02747. You can also email info@bcso-ma.org.

The office has 10 business days to respond. Under M.G.L. c. 66, Section 10A, agencies can charge for the time it takes to find and copy records. The first two hours of search time are free. After that, they can bill up to $25 per hour. Copy fees run about $0.05 per page for black and white prints. Your request should include the full name of the person, any dates you have, and what type of record you want.

Some booking records have parts that are off limits. Juvenile records are sealed. Domestic violence reports have restrictions. Mental health info tied to a booking may also be redacted. But the basic facts of an adult arrest and booking are public in most cases. The Massachusetts Public Records Law lays out the full rules on what can and cannot be released.

Note: Include as much detail as you can in your request since vague requests may take longer or get a partial response.
